ABOUT
Patents are
an archive of invention.
From Patents is an editorial site that selects inventions worth seeing from the enormous archive of published patents and uses drawings as a way into the underlying ideas.
What does this site do?
Rather than summarizing every patent, we review a broad pool around a company or theme and choose distinct ideas that readers can understand and enjoy. The drawings are the entry point to explaining how a mechanism works, what it changes in use, and what makes it worth noticing. We do not add overlapping examples simply to reach a list size.
Operation and editing
From Patents is operated and edited by From Patents / ttomohisa. Planning, candidate selection, primary-source review, article structure and post-publication corrections are treated as one editorial process.
How are primary sources checked?
Core factual claims are checked against published patent documents. We retain publication numbers, assignees, inventors and original figure references, and provide a route from each FIG. back to the source. Patent-to-product relationships are separated from cases where only a related or similar product can be verified. See the Sources Policy and Editorial Policy for details.
Use of AI tools
AI tools may assist with organizing research candidates, drafting, translation and implementation. Before publication, an editor reviews the primary sources, patent identifiers, article text, drawing orientation and quality, and the Japanese and English pages. Patent drawings are not replaced with AI-generated or generatively redrawn images.
About FIG.
FIG. 01, FIG. 02 and similar labels are From Patents article numbers. The original patent figure numbers are shown separately as Source Figures.
This is not a prediction site
A patent application or grant does not mean a product will be commercialized. We treat published primary sources as records of ideas and alternate possibilities.
Corrections and contact
If we confirm an error or find a better primary source, we update the article. For corrections, source information or other questions, use Contact.
